Hello, welcome! I'm Catherine Farquharson. I'm a professional photographer, using photography as a way to expand, connect and create.
For my clients and subjects, this means what we do is real, and fun. I shoot creative editorial portraits for publications, sometimes of well-known names like Clare Danes and Sarah Slean. I also work with emerging artists and people-of-note to-be, as we develop branding, image and feelings that photos can portray and evoke through their portraits.
As a documentarian, I tell photo-stories from all over the world, including the recent first interracial prom in Charleston, Mississippi, where my photos were published in Oprah's magazine, the National Post, NPR.com, Seventeen magazine and more.
I especially revel in covering important life experiences, including weddings, relationships, and natural lifestyle portraits. Those moments and events are what we remember and hold onto, and I am honoured by the opportunity for my photos to be the touchstone for those memories and feelings.
For me, photography of people is the capturing of their essence, and sharing back what I saw and felt. Wherever, and whomever they are. Everywhere and anywhere. Connecting, understanding and sharing.

I have been waiting for the right wedding to use this Jack Johnson song with in a slideshow. Megan + Mike’s wedding in Mexico was it. The sunshine, the joy, the VW beetle, the laid back nature of the couple, and guests lapping up the experience. It had all the elements you would want for a perfect destination wedding.
To make this wedding what it was, Megan + Mike hired Michael and Eva of Vallarta Weddings to do the planning. They made the day go off seamlessly. Without further adieu, here is the slideshow !
(To enjoy properly, please press play, then PAUSE. Let the show load, and then press play again.)
I would also like to take a moment to say an extremely special THANK YOU to Emma McIntyre who flew out to join me in Mexico and be my second shooter. Not only did she take beautiful photographs of the day, but she worked really really hard when my Sting-Rayed foot became inflamed again. Three million cheers, and my first born child for Emma!!!
Don’t you just love this whimsical shot below that Emma took?
April 9, 2010 - 7:38 amTash - As always, stunning photos!
April 14, 2010 - 10:13 pmChalese - Oh no! So sorry to hear about the flare up. I hope it all worked out. The pictures were beautiful, perfect with the song. We've danced many times to that one. We all might have to return one day for our big one!
Much love,
Chalese and Brian
A week ago we were here. Puerto Vallarta. Celebrating Megan + Mike’s wedding. It was so dreamy, so beautiful, and so much fun, I am awash in images I love.
I’m busy working away on a slideshow to share with you, it will be up in the next couple of days. What. A. Wedding.
That is all I have to say for now. You can just see for yourself soon. Hold tight!
